Pondok Keladi Guesthouse Langkawi - A Little Retreat

Reviews

"I've stayed in Pondok Keladi many times over 2008-2009 and it's one of my favouraite places in Langkawi. A beautiful location which has a unique atmosphere of tranquility and hospitality. Staying here, you are in safe hands with Mark and Dee. They will always make a personal effort to ensure your stay on island is as pleasurable as possible, and do so in an unintrusive and genuine manner."    Chris Nixon - London

"Spent 4 nights amazing place to stay would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing time owners very friendly and helpful arranged car hire for us showed us places to eat. Dogs friendly, rooms cleaned every day, towels supplied, water & beer in fridge in the room when we arrived & you can help yourself to anything in the kitchen, eggs, tea, coffee etc. We will definately stay here again when we visit Langkawi."    Lynn and Mike Jones - UK

"This was one of the best places we stayed in a long world trip. The setting is idyllic: a little way from the town but easy by bike or on foot. Dee and Marc were warm, helpful and full of suggestions on what to do, where to eat, etc. Dee showed us around and catered for our interests. The accommodation is simple but it has all you need if you want a home-from home feeling in authentic surroundings. We stayed a week and by the time we left we felt we were leaving friends."    Jackie Turnbull - UK

"This Guesthouse, run by the sweetest man, is the best place to stay in Langkawi. It made my trip magical and the experience was like coming home. The owner, Dee, is a fabulous Malay who spent much of his life in London. He treated us like family and would give us rides around the island in his car. His generosity knew no bounds and he was excellent company. His mom, a darling woman, added to the charm of the place. The rooms and home were lovely. Only eight rooms on gorgeous off-road property, surrounded by palms and rice fields. About a fifteen minute walk from the beaches (rent bicycles for added fun). The common area was a huge covered porch where we lounged all hours in hammoks and hung out with the many dogs on the property. We seriously wanted to stay for months."    Heather Fesht - USA

"Was in Langkawi, Malaysia for 4 weeks last month. I had an incredible time as a backpacker. Food was cheap. People are friendly. No touts selling things along the beaches. Heaven. It is a far cry from beaches in Phuket and Bali. I stayed at a couple of guest houses before I found Pondok Keladi on travel-library.com. It is hidden in a village but only 15 minute walk to the beach. Ensuite bathroom, mini fridge, clean room, comfortable beds and ceiling fan. I dont need a/c and hot water (who needs hot water in this indredibly hot weather!). I prepared my own meals almost everyday in the kitchen. Di, the owner and his friend Mark are always on hand to assist me and the rest of the guests. We were treated like family! I spent the rest of 3 weeks there eventhough the initial plan was the try out new guesthouse available on the island. Kudos to both Di and Mark for making my stay a memorable one! I would certainly recommend Pondok to anyone."    Taunton - UK

"My friends who travelled to Langkawi recently suggested me a small place, called Pondok Keladi. In April 2009, I went to Langkawi and stayed there for 5 nights with a friend of mine. The experience has been nothing but wonderful. Since from the first email booking, we have been treated well by the owner Dee. Dee provided us with the airport pickup in the wee hours in the morning. The place was gorgeous and looked exactly like beingd escribed by my friends. It was quiet, clean and the room was basic yet immaculate. It is the best place to stay for relaxing and get away from the hustle bustle of a busy life in a city. Marc, the English guy who helped Dee running the place is also a nice guy. The best thing about the place is the 'Balai', common hall in front of the rooms. The hall has a big lounge open air area, with a common kitchen. Throughout the stay we met and spent many hours with the other guests who were also enjoying their stay at Pondok Keladi. During our stay, Dee and Marc organized a BBQ for the guests at no extra fees. We were touched with their hopsitality and help and definitely recommended any readers to stay at this delightful little gem in Langkawi"    Nawri - Zurich
